Owners, Maureen and Roy Jones have been Los Altos residents for the past 47 years. Roy was President of a Silicon Valley corporation and retired to join Maureen in running her company which is made up of five travel agencies in one corporation. The agency is managed by VP/General Manager, Shannon Murphy, who was Roy's Corporate Controller for over 20 years. The Corporate and Leisure Departments handle business and leisure travel, marketing, incentive and meeting planning. Both departments are staffed with a combined twenty agents and independent contractors who are world traveled professionals with degrees from Stanford, U.C.L.A. and U.S.C. to name a few distinguished universities.
Roy is a native of Southern California, graduate of U.S.C., and a retired Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is active in Los Altos Rotary and a member of the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce. Maureen, a native of Great Britain, has five degrees and is a specialist in 39 countries and has been to over 100.
Many of the staff have certificates in cruising meaning they are specialists in over 131 different cruise ships and are also Small Ship Certified. They are Disney experts on the cruise line as well Disneyworld, Disneyland and Adventures by Disney. Our Leisure Department has specialists in over 35 countries including destinations in Europe and Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Scotland, and Tahiti. The staff are members of most major travel organizations including PATA (Pacific Asian Travel Association), ASTA (American Society of Travel Agents), ARTA (Association of Retail Travel Agents) and San Jose Travel Professionals. Agency staff contribute travel articles to the "Travel Talk" column in the Los Altos Town Crier newspaper, Luxury Travel Magazine and submit a weekly blog in the Los Altos and Mountain View Patch e-news site.
The agency has won many awards for excellence including nine Opal Awards, the highest honor available to a single agency by the Australian Tourism Commission for superb knowledge of "Downunder". The staff take annual inspection tours of the Hawaiian Islands and are experts on their properties. The agency is a member of the prestigious travel consortium, Signature Travel Network, which enables us to obtain upgrades, amenities and priority treatment for our clients. Travel agents sell 80% of all airline tickets, 95% of all cruises, 80% of all vacation packages and 55% of all hotel and car rentals. The internet is a great tool but it cannot replace the role of the travel professional. Professional counselors assist clients in ways no web site ever can. They know what they want and understand the benefits of booking with a travel professional. Travel Agents charge service fees just like internet travel websites. Agency fees are often lower, and you are getting an impartial price and personal service options. Without a travel agent, you are on your own!
